A student, from WLCI Bangalore campus recently shared his work on Packaging with us. Presenting
the work of Shrikant Garg. He is currently pursuing a course in visual
communications.
The students at Bangalore were asked to create packaging
using the typeface – “Taxi”. This was done to enhance their creativity and
imagination. This task involved 2 of the most highly valued skills of a
designer, that is – Typography and Package Design.
The use of letters to form a design is known as Typography.
An expert in this area can go a long way in their design career as fonts are
known to have significant impact on the readers. Fonts are the silent mood
makers for your user, they can be silly or elegant, refined or casual depending
on the message you wish to deliver.
Using this art in Package Designing can help promote a
message to the end user and build relations for the future. These attributes
are highly appreciated in the field of advertising and marketing. Hence, WLCI
encourages the students to engage in the same to broaden their horizon.
In the image, you can see the use of a particular font to
design a CD cover, Booklet and a Box.
